We’ve been hard at work selecting repertoire for the Fall 2024 season, and we’re delighted to share these selections with you today! For the Fall 2024 semester of singing at Encore Creativity, we will be singing:

Encore Chorales

  • Avinu Malkenu – arr. John Leavitt*
  • Deck the Halls Rag – Molly Ijames
  • Dona Nobis Pacem (from Mass in C) – W.A. Mozart, arr. Patrick M. Liebergen
  • Fly – Ayrian Norman
  • Glory, Glory! (I Feel Better) – Adam and Matt Podd
  • Shalom – Dan Forrest
  • Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening – Victor C. Johnson
  • The Storm is Passing Over – arr. Barbara W. Baker
  • Winter Bells – Mykola Leontovych, arr. Alan Billingsley

*Special note from the Artistic Director:

After much consideration, I’ve decided to remove John Leavitt’s ‘Avinu Malkenu’ from our Fall 24 programming, replacing it with another work you’ll receive closer to the mid-point of our 15-week rehearsal cycle.

In July, a singer brought to my attention that the sacred text within ‘Avinu Malkenu’ is not appropriate to perform on the Jewish sabbath. Since then, I’ve had many thoughtful conversations with Encore members and spiritual leaders within the Jewish community and have solicited feedback from select members of the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) Committee and Artistic Advisory Committee (AAC). In doing so, I found the concerns of this singer to be particularly valid, especially given we have numerous ensembles participating in Friday evening performances this upcoming December.

So, you’ll receive a new work from our artistic team sometime in early October.
