ROCK with us this summer in Detroit as we sing our way through a city with the pulse of rock ‘n’ roll! Detroit ROCKS continues our annual ROCKS Camp series, where we bring Encore ROCKers and lovers of rock ‘n’ roll music to significant cities in rock ‘n’ roll history.
Campers at our Detroit ROCKS camp will rehearse an exciting repertoire of music that pays homage to the heartbeat of the city, all while experiencing the local attractions and scenery. Our host hotel, the Fort Pontchartrain Hotel, is conveniently located in the heart of Detroit’s historic districts. In addition, our camp will educate you on the history of rock with trips to museums and heritage sites. You’ll visit the Motown Museum and the Wright Museum of African American History, join us on the Sunset Motown Dinner Cruise, walk to the beat of the Detroit Historical Society Rhythm Walk, have a relaxing evening at Baker’s Keyboard Lounge, and visit the homes of great Motown artists.

Itinerary Details
- Day 1: Check-in day! Please plan to arrive at our host hotel, the Fort Pontchartrain Hotel, at 2 PM. We’ll invite you to our newest ROCKS Camp with a welcome reception, and then you’ll enjoy your first rehearsal with Jeff Dokken and Encore’s artistic team in the afternoon. An opening night dinner will follow, and then we’ll have local evening entertainment to start our camp off right.
- Day 2: Breakfast is served in the hotel, and then we’ll head into a morning stretching workshop to prepare for a day of singing. You’ll then head into a morning rehearsal, take a break for lunch, and get ready to sing again! Following our third rehearsal of the camp, we’ll start our sightseeing activities with local history museums, and then you’ll have the opportunity to explore Detroit and enjoy dinner on your own within the city. Be sure to get back to the hotel for our evening activity, where a fun game of ROCKS Trivia awaits!
- Day 3: An enjoyable breakfast in the hotel, followed by a second class in our stretching workshop, begins the day of singing! Morning rehearsals will follow, and after lunch, we’ll experience the city of Detroit with a local bus tour to hit the highlights, with an additional tour of the city’s historic spots to enjoy. You’ll have free time after the tour, and then a choice of two dinner spots to enjoy with Encore friends – Mario’s Restaurant or Baker’s Keyboard Lounge!
- Day 4: A local instructor will lead our movement and stretching course, and then we’ll take a bus trip to the Detroit Historical Museum. Ride the bus back to the hotel for lunch, and get ready to polish your singing voice with our intensive afternoon rehearsal! For the evening, you’ll get a wonderful education on Detroit’s musical history with the Motown Museum, and we’ll finish off the evening with a picturesque sunset cruise on the Detroit Princess Motown Dinner Cruise.
- Day 5: After our routine of breakfast and movement and stretching classes, you’ll sing in your next rehearsal to practice more rockin’ music of Detroit, and then relax with lunch. Get ready – the big performance awaits! After packing up and checking out at the hotel, it’s time for a dress rehearsal at our performance venue. You’ll put on a show for local Detroit music lovers to enjoy! The concert ends at 3 PM, with our camp officially coming to a close.

Cost and Rates
Online credit card payments are subject to a 4% credit card processing fee. You may also choose to pay via check mailed to Encore’s address without the credit card fee. Full payment is due by May 6, 2025.
Listed prices include activities, breakfast and lunch each day, and welcome reception dinner. Additional dinners are not included.
Refund Policy
- Cancellation before May 6, 2025: Full refund
- Cancellation from May 7, 2025 – June 6, 2025: 50% refund
- Cancellation on or after June 7, 2025: No refund
