Encore University’s Masterclass series starts with the wonderful Gerrod Pagenkopf, assistant music director of the world-renowned, award-winning Chanticleer!
In a special 90-minute presentation, Gerrod will bring his expertise and experience to Encore singers and touch on practical topics for performing:
- Warming up (and cooling down!) the voice and body
- Accessing the upper range
- Reducing tension while singing
- Singing in a mask
This informative presentation will conclude in a live Q&A session!

ABOUT GERROD PAGENKOPF
GERROD PAGENKOPF is the assistant music director at Chanticleer, an award-winning men’s a capella ensemble known around the world as “an orchestra of voices”. He holds a Master’s degree in vocal performance from the University of Houston and has performed with, among others, Ars Lyrica Houston, the Handel and Haydn Society, Blue Heron Renaissance Choir, and Church of the Advent in Boston’s Beacon Hill.
In his spare time, Gerrod enjoys exploring San Francisco with a cold brew coffee in hand, fostering his new-found obsession for Stephen Sondheim musicals, and doing the daily New York Times crossword puzzle – in pen!
