Towson Encore Chorale

Join the Towson Encore Chorale

Baltimore's Best Older Adult Chorus!

Our Baltimore area program started in 2005 at Myerberg Senior Center and has since moved to Towson at the Towson Presbyterian Church.  Join us!

The class, designed for adults 55 years and above is instructive as well as enjoyable. Learn proper breathing techniques and how to improve your voice through tone production as conductor Stephen Harouff guides you through weekly rehearsals in four-part singing. Stephen is assisted by Chorale Master Esther Layton.

The season will conclude with performances with other Encore Chorales at locations in the MD/VA/DC area. Be a part of a true harmonic convergence! If you can talk, you can sing!

“When we sing, I am one of many, and the individual me evaporates. I am one of 23 university choir members. Not a professor. Not an American. Not a 46-year-old in the midst of twentysomethings. Not a woman trying to outpace the aspects of self she has yet to make peace with. I am simply what we all are--another voice, a set of lungs, some vocal chords and someone who finds joy and comfort in singing. But when the music stops, so does the we. The union dissolves. The silence transforms first person plural into first person singular.”― Laura Kelly, Dispatches from the Republic of Otherness
