Jonathan Miller Brings Encore to Chicago

Jonathan Miller, Artistic Director and Conductor

JMHeadshotReducedJonathan Miller is known for bringing his infectious enthusiasm and love for choral singing to professional and volunteer choruses alike. He continues to delight Chicago-area audiences as artistic director of Chicago a cappella, which he founded in 1993. His conducting credits include the church choir at Unity Temple in Oak Park and Heritage Chorale, as well as years of studio work and guest appearances at clinics and festivals. Well known for his expertise in Jewish choral music, he served Congregation Rodfei Zedek as high-holiday choir director for 12 years and now serves there as high-holiday cantor; he has been on faculty at the North American Jewish Choral Festival and Scholar-in-Residence at Lakeside Congregation in Highland Park.

Jonathan spent ten years in the Chicago Children’s Choir; he was privileged to sing under many of the great conductors in Chicago-area choral music, including Max Janowski, Christopher Moore, Anne Heider, Richard Proulx, Lena McLin, and Margaret Hillis. In addition to working as a singer and conductor, Jonathan is an active composer with more than 75 works in his catalog and brings his “inside view” of music to rehearsals. He is currently the lead choral arranger and Director of Choral Catalog for Musicnotes.com.
