Evanne Browne

EBrowneEvanne Browne is the newly appointed conductor of the Lansdowne Encore Chorale. One of three female professional conductors in a musical family, Evanne has performed, directed and championed choral music since the 1980s. She taught private voice at university and community college, and has conducted ensembles as large as 140 choristers with full orchestra, and as tiny as four singers. Evanne spent 23 years in the DC area where she gained notoriety as a soprano soloist described as having "sensitive musicianship" and a voice with "an impressive range...clear with sweet highs.” She made multiple solo appearances with outstanding ensembles including the Smithsonian Chamber Players, Washington Bach Consort, Hesperus, and the National Cathedral Choir of Men and Boys. Evanne moved to Boulder, Colorado, where she gained notoriety conducting and developing musical programs. She served as Director of Music at First United Methodist Church, as Artistic Director for the Colorado Masterworks Chorus, and as Founder and Artistic Director of Seicento Baroque Ensemble. Having recently returned to NoVA, she now serves as Director of Music at Sydenstricker United Methodist Church and Assistant Music Director for the Washington Christmas Revels. Evanne maintains a private voice studio where she often works with choral singers wanting to improve their singing and musicianship. Her degrees are in vocal performance, receiving a Master of Music from Rice University, and a Bachelor of Music from Trinity University. Evanne brings a wealth of experience, knowledge and fun to Encore rehearsals.
